How to Use A Combination Square

A combination square serves multiple purposes. A combination square is a tool used for multiple purposes in woodworking and metalworking. It is composed of a ruled blade and one or more interchangeable heads that may be affixed to it. The most common head is the standard or square head which is used to lay out or check right and 45° angles.

This short video shows Ray Horner Jr. explaining ways he used the combination ruler when building his custom canvas art.

Artist, Ray Horner Helps His Baby Boomer Wife to Use The Self-Centering Tape Measure

My wife allowed me to tape her trying to use the self-centering tape measure. She made a few bloopers but I think she got the hang of it.

Yes You Can Build Your Own Art Tools

This is not going to be a long introduction. This site is a work site. When you visit you will see tips, tools and hands on activity. There will be things that will meet every level learner from novice to advanced.

Please do not do negative self talk. You know things like, “I’ll never be able to do that”, or “I don’t have the exact tool he has, so I can’t do it”. That is, as Zig Zigler would say, ” Stinkin Thinking”.

I built this site to empower you. But you must try even if you do not get it right the first time, try try again.

If at any time you have a request or suggestion just let me know. Also, if you have a tutorial you would like to share that other artists and hobbyists can learn just let me know.

Thanks again for starting on this journey of building your own art stuff!
